what is the meaning/origin of my name?
It is a female name. I have been told that it is Hawiian, meaning "wild flower" or that it is an actual flower . I also spell it w/ a tilde oven the n. It could be spanish. I've been searching and the only thing solid is that it is the title of a song by Donovan, that came out in the 60's. The song is about a woman named lalena, so that doesn't help much. I pronounce it La-lane-ya.

With a tilde over the n (ñ)...In Spanish, "la leña" means "the firewood". It could have sense as a made up name with Spanish words (as Lareina for "la reina"), but it is not a Spanish name.Lumia

With the tilde over the n this would not be a Hawaiian name. If you were named after Donovan's song, the name is one Donovan invented as a tribute to the German actress Lotte Lenya:http://www.greenmanreview.com/live/live_donovan_072704.html

I think that you're getting it mixed up with Leilani - and the name Lalena is definitely not Spanish. It looks to me like the combination of La + Lena - Lena could be a pet name for any name ending in -lena.
