One of my relatives had the name Statira. I've found one site saying you pronounce it (STAH-tir-ah) and another saying you pronounce it (STAH-te-air-ah). Which is the correct way or are both of these sites wrong?

Actually back in the 19th century I believe this name was usually pronounced "sta-TYE-ruh" in the USA. It was the name the Persian princess who became one of Alexander the Great's wives. Of course the common pronunciation 200 years ago may not be the same as how scholars of ancient Greek or Persian pronounce it today.

Strangely no, she had the last name Britton or Kaesey so my guess is that she was english or irish.
