Actually I was told that the ending of Isabeau is Eau not Beau and has nothing to do with being masculine
In the fifteenth century it was a royal name
One bearer being Queen Isabeau wife to King Charles VI of France another being Isabeau of Lorraine wife to René of Anjou king of Sicily

In this case Isabeau is not a male form (like Belle & Beau) but a Middle Ages one of Isabelle. It is prononced ee-zah-boh.
