This may sound a little strange, but I am doing research on the city I live in, the name of which is Montgomery, and am actually a part of a team that is participating in this research. The team is made up of a number of different churches and denominations in our city. I read the definition that you have which you say comes from a Germanic background and means Gomeric's mountain, or "manpower." It has been stated that the meaning of Montgomery is both "mount of the rich man," and also "prosporous." I don't have the sources of those definitions available as I was not the one that found those definitions. Do you have any insight into whether these definitions are accurate?
