I'm glad you found the names interesting! But I dunno, it seems a bit strange writing to embassys to know the meaning of some names...
But you're right, embassy people is very helpful. I live in Sweden, and in elementary school we wrote small books about a country in Europe. My best friend and I chose Greece, and wrote to the Greek embassy in Stockholm, and they sent a lot of interesting material - that was great!
