There are some rather boring SF books with a hero called Severian - can't remember the author or the series (see what I mean about boring?), but it could have been formed quite comfortably from the Latin name Severus, which would give Severianus = someone connected with the Severi, as freed slave or whatever. Plus, the relevant guy is an executioner, so the component is very apt ...

Second of all, where do you think they are from? What language, country, nationalite of the people? The wizards need that info, otherwise they just stare at the screen.
