In Dutch I believe it can translate as "parts", whether in that language it's used as a first name I don't know.
I've heard that it is a common name in France. That information I got from a French and English speaking Jamaican.
There may have been a minorly well known doctor (of what I don't know) with that name, but whether first or last name I don't know. He may been Indian (either India Indian or Native American.)
I have been told that it translates in some Native American language as "he is so."
I know of at least two people with this name, both of them males. One of them got his name as a result of his parents involvement with synchrotistic "spirituality" and "naturalism."

In Dutch Delsen is not a name. 'parts' in Dutch is 'delen' (pr. DAY-luhn) not 'delsen'. Can't tell you anything else, I've never heard this name before...

one more thing 'deels' in Dutch means 'partially', maybe that explains why you thought it meant 'parts'

Put "delsen" in google and you will find tons of Dutch language pages with that word in the text. Put that word in Babelfish and you get "parts" ...

I'm Dutch and I just looked in my dictionary and delsen really has no meaning in Dutch. But I did some more research and Delsen and Van Delsen are last names in the Netherlands. Delsen seems to come from the first name Telse, a girls name which comes from Elizabeth, the last name probably means 'belonging to Telse'.

Thanks, Babelfish translates delsen to parts. It seems they may be wrong. Or perhaps it is an obscure declination.
