If you mean "Thatcher"... it's an occupational name of English origins. It refers to someone who places or repairs "thatch" (roofing material made of plant stalks or leaves, grass, branches, etc.).
If you spell it correctly - Thatcher - it is an old English occupation name meaning "person who thatches houses". Thatch is an old type of roofing material. Have a look here:
