I've just got a puppy whom I've named PUSHKIN 'cos he barged his way up to the front of the queue when I was looking a doggie. Does anybody have any facts about the name, apart from it's Russian and there is a poet/author of that name?

Obviously Pushkin is a name befitting your puppy very well :). It's a Russian last name, borne by poet Aleksander Pushkin among others, that comes from the Russian word for "cannon".
