Andrew / Andy
Can anyone confirm or identify the earliest use of the nickname Andy, for Andrew? I need to use the name for a 1770's character in my current manuscript. I know of President Andrew Jackson, often called Andy, and presume the name was used in the early 1800's, but am trying to stretch it back to the Revolutionary War period. Thanks,

Well, nowhere appears the form Andy... (?) just Dandy and Tandy...
Hope that helps!
