Anyone heard of Aziza?
I met a woman named Aziza who said she was from a part of Russia. However, she looks Asian and her name seems to be Arabic. Just curios, it's not listed. Can anyone help?
Thanks!

Well, I can try.. as you can see, my name is aziza too, and i've read that it is originally a hebrew name, and it means "strong", but i've also read that it can mean "precious", but i think it has lots of different meanings in all languages
And...
Does her family *originally* come from Russia, or from a part of the former USSR? All of the former Soviet Republics in Asia (Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kirghizstan, etc.) have predominantly Muslim population - maybe that's how she ended up with an Arabic name.

Hi PJCentral,
I found three different meanings, but I'm sure that it's just one root for the three meanings because they are quite similar and do all come from the same "area":
1) Arabic: "dear"
2) African (Swahili): "valuable"
3) Hebrew: "strong"
Regards,
Satu
