The other spelling Darcey is French for the city, but I read some where that this spelling Darcie is Irish Gaelic and means dark.

I have a cat named Darcy. :-) Darcie, are you a boy or a girl? Well, I looked up the name "Darcy" and it's from the French name "D'Arcy" meaning "from Arcy." Hmm, I've never seen it spelt "Darcie" before.
