Does anyone have any information about the name "Arbi"? It is a common name in Armenians and I have no idea where it comes from or what it means.

"Arbi" does not occur in Awde & Losi's _Armenian First Names_. They do include the name "Arpi", however, which they say is the Armenian word for "sun".

This source can be satisfying if it is correct.
Because, on the other hand, there is a dialect separation in Armanian as in the name Peter: Petros (East) and Bedros (West).
