Meaning and origin of Lamar.
A couple of days ago, I saw the film "The Minority Report" (starring Tom Cruise), and I came across a peculiar name in the film. There was a character played by Max von Sydow there, and his name was Lamar Burgess (Burgess being the surname, ofcourse). As far as I know, the character was an American one, so it strikes me as a bit odd that he carries an quite unknown first name as Lamar. I didn't find it in this database, so I wonder if any of you could tell me what its meaning and origin is?Thank you in advance!Lucille
