Calsina or Seyna name origin
Hello! My grandfather's aunt, Calsina Elizabeth Franklin, was about 1/4 Cherokee and also Creek. I am trying to uncover the significance of the name Calsina. It seems very unusual. I've done quite a bit of genealogicial searching and have only encountered that name one or two other times. The name seems to be linked to those who have an American Indian heritage. The name also seems to be a popular Spanish surname. Some people shortened her name and called her Sina (rhymes with whiney) while those closest to her called her Puki (rhymes with cookie). I wonder if these names have any importance in Cherokee or Creek culture. I am grateful for any and all information. Thanks! P.S. I am also curious about the name Seyna, which was Calsina's mother's name. Thanks.
