Behind the Name says that Elena is the Italian, Spanish, Russian, Bulgarian, Romanian, and Macedonian cognate of HELEN. I know the Spanish pronunciation is "Eh leh na." Does anyone know if the name is pronounced the same way in Italy, Russia, Romania and Greece? The reason I'm asking is because I've also heard the name pronounced "Eh LAY na" and I was wondering if this is how Elena is pronounced in another culture. While I'm at it, does anyone know how to pronounce the Greek Helene and Eleni?
