Yes, but...
-evska is a Slavic ending especially popular in Macedonia; and Romanians are not Slavic. Besides, Romanian last names generally end in -iu or -escu. And if the ancestor was named Petar, the name would be Petrovska. I am willing to bet that Petre is some dialect form of Petar.

yeah i know romainian's arent slavic... and i asked my mom and she confirmed that petre is a macedonian name. im not sure about the spelling. it could be wrong...but yeah the important thing is i found out that petre is our version of peter.

Your absolutly right Romanians are Dacians. The country is often referred to as Slavic or Balkans which it isn't either one. It's just an eastern european country right I'm Romanian and Bulgarian Roma on my father's side. The family name was Simeonescu before it was changed to Sims. Are you an eastern european?
