Yeah I am going to change my name once I turn 18. But I have yet to decide on a name which is why i came here.
Good Idea about having people call me by my future name once I pick it.
I will keep my last name, Peters, though because I was named after the man who (as I am told) saved my life.
So I need a first name that sounds good with Peters.

i think that is great. what are some names you like. pick something that has a special place in your heart. perhaps someone you know who you admire whose name you like. or something you read from a book that means alot to you or even a movie. i am trying to find a hebrew name for myself, so i understand what you will be going through.

I like the name Danielle. Daniel in the Lions Den used to be my favorite story from the old testement when
I was little. But Danielle is to common I like names that end in "Elle". But I also like the name Sarah which is also
Very common. What names have you found so far for yourself?

well i only want to use a hebrew name since i am becomming jewish. i've looked everywhere. old testament, modern israeli names.
some i have thought of are
Ruth - a fellow convert
Chava - the 1st woman
Naomi - she changed her name too
Yosefa, Elisheva, Miriam, Yochana, Gana - from family names
Michal, Michaela - variations of my name
Right now the one i really like is Lael. I'm trying to find out how exactly it is pronunciated. i really want a single syllable name. i think Danielle and Sarah are very pretty names. don't use Michele, that's the name i've suffered with for so many years. What is wrong with just using Elle or Ella. if Danielle and Sarah are too common why not a variation Daniela, Danica, Sarai (ser-ie)(sarah's original name). are you getting a middle name too? 2 -elle name i think is pretty, but most disagree on ie Miriele or Belle

To x...Lael...That's pretty! I'd pronounce it Lah-ALE or Lah-ELL. I know that in Hebrew there is a word El which is not El meaning God. Shalom, Y :)

it is listed as a 1 syllable and i asked a person with this name how they pronounced it and they said like mail. they also said they got thier name from the tanakh.
I know that in Hebrew there is a word El which is not El meaning God>
i am alittle confused on what you meant here, mostly the "el which is not el" part. i'm not trying to be rude or mean. i'm just confused
just curious, is your name hebrew? where did you get it from?

Then it's probably Lale.
Ehl versus ale..."God" is Ale, like the drink; ehl is a little short word like 'the', 'and', 'for', in English, but I don't know what it means.
No and yes: the name my mom gave me is Latin, Julia, but on this site I go by Yahalome Tal. Yahalome is not an actual name, I just looked up "diamond" in a Hebrew-English dictionary. Click on Tal. I liked the phrase "Diamind Dew" as a name.
I am not Jewish, to my slight disappointment, but I love the Hebrew language and culture. I first got into it from my parent's Messianic Hebrew/English cd's and tapes. I am Anglo-American Protestant Christian, and I love God's chosen people: my heart aches for those who still reject their Mashiach.
Y :)
