the endings -vic/-ic/-vec can be a patronymic suffix meaning "son of" like these Mac???-names in Scotland or ???sson names in Sweden. But this suffix can mean "belongs to" as well, so it was not necessarily given merely to the SON.
For example Petric would be "belongs to Peter" or "son of Peter" and
Michevec would be "belongs to Michael" or "son of Michael" etc.

I also believe that it's Yugolsavian and pronounced as "...vich" not "...vik".
