I'm in love with the name Ella, but does it sound to much like an elephant's name, or did you not realize that until i said that? I really do love the name Ella, but no child of mine will have the nickname, "Ella the Elephant." When I think of the name, a picture of elegance comes to mind. Like for instance, CinderELLA. If you disagree, please let me know. This is a large dilemna for me.

I love the name Elle and names with "elle" in them- so there are lots of names I like. When I hear Ella I don't think of elephant. More like the book Ella Enchanted, and things like that.

When I hear Ella I always think of the book Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. The protagonist, Ella, is fantastic. I love the name Ella.

I know a little Ella (I live in Germany), and she has no

Ella the Elephant" never came to mind, nor has "Cinderella" come to mind when I hear the name Ella. Come to think of it, nothing out of the ordinary comes to my mind when I hear the name Ella.

Having relived the past, I must say that to me, Ella says Cinders. Name her Eleanor or Elizabeth and use it as a nickname.

"Ella the Elephant" has never occurred to me, although the name always brings Ella Fitzgerald to mind. The name might have some unfortunate fallout though if your child was unlucky enough to have a weight problem.

She was great, wasn't she? I used to have a tape that had Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne and Sarah Vaughn (or was it Vaughan? :shrug:.)
