So he's telling you that in Europe the name is principally associated with a perfectly respectable Fiat mid-size sedan, not with a female personal name.
If you're in the US where Fiats haven't been sold since the passage of the Anti-Corrosion Act of 1981, no one's ever heard of the car. In either case, it's a benign, pleasant-sounding word with no bad connotations I'm aware of. I'd have no hesitation using it as a name if I were you or yours.
