This message is in response to an archived inquiry by Eileen, made on October 15, 2001, about the name Makeda.
I dunno whether she got a response to her question about the meaning of the name "Makeda". I too was searching for the same for a friend, and I found out the following:
Makeda was the Queen of Sheba, she of the King Solomon fame (1 Kings 10, II Chronicles 9). The name is Ethiopian, and it means "Greatness". You can find more information at this link: http://www.windweaver.com/sheba/Sheba.htm.
