Anjuli/Anjali
My cousin's name is Anjuli. Her parents heard that it meant "praying hands, but we aren't sure. All we know is that it is fairly common in India. It is usually transliterated from Hindi as "Anjali" (both are pronounced the same). Can anyone find any info on it? It's not in the database.

I am one more Anjuli, located in one of the less known countries of Europe. :) Thebabynamer.com says that Anjuli means "blessings, inconquerable". I wouldn't know...

anjali means "offering" in mnay indian languages. i am very sure about one south indian language which is kannada..there anjali means means "offering" . it is sometimes combined with the thing being offered to come out as a suffix in many words..like pushpaanjali would mean "an offering of flowers"..( pushpa = flower)..or a bashpanjali would mean "an ofeering of tears" though it is not a name..bcos bashpa means "tears"
Well, I found websites claiming it means "offering", "offering with both hands", "prayer". The term 'anjali mudra' refers to a prayer position in which the hands are held together. Read about it here:

My name is Anjuli, however it is not pronounced the same as Anjali. My name takes the English pronunciation.
It's the praying hands meaning, or atleast thats what my parents are telling me. It's a little coincidental, my cousins have a cousin named Anjali. My parents pronounce it Anne-juh-lee.
