Are you quite certain you checked?

The database on this site gives the following info:
VANESSA f English
Invented by author Jonathan Swift. He arrived at it by rearranging the initial syllables of the first name and surname of Esther Vanhomrigh, his close friend. Vanessa was later used as the name of a genus of butterfly.
If you don't think that's detail about the origin of the name, then I don't know what you have in mind.
Regarding n/t, you would find this in this site's FAQ section:

And also, I was looking on the web for a site that could point me to the direction I'm looking for. I didn't know that there was a FAQ sheet all that I saw was a message board, so I posted my question. All that I included, that my name meant butterfly and that a lot of people said that it is a spanish name, is all that I knew about the name, that was the purpose of coming here. So, I'm not quite certain how that doesn't follow the directions, it stated to write as much as you know about the name--I did that, was there something else I didn't do, I read all that directions and I'm pretty sure that I did everything it said to do?
I'm sure you've been here longer than I, so my question's may seem very stupid, I apologize:)

I know that even though that was the first time "America" or should I say the English have heard of the name Vanessa, in other countries or cultures/ethnicities it could be a very old name. All names have meanings--and I don't mean just like butterfly or flying moon, I mean names have healing properties and they have spiritual connections.
That is what I am asking, if there is more to it than what the site has and if anyone knows another place I could look--I understand that he may have arranged the letters, but that still does not say what the name "means."
There are messages for people in their names, it forshadows who they may come to be or who they are at the moment. It's an interpretation of one's self, so what I am asking is basically what does the name "really mean," the spiritual background/origin and yes your example too, whether it originated some place else independently, how it was really formed and if no one knows off-hand, is there a place that they might suggest as another alternative to finding out.
I hope that helps clear it up a bit :)
Peace and blessings to all
