Re: Eudoxia and Historical characters with that name
in reply to a message by Evdoxia
Looking at Evdoxia reminded me of this girl I went to school with. Her name was Evdokia. I'm pretty sure that Evdokia, Eudoxia, and Evdoxia all come from the same name after reading this: In 1689 Peter I of Russia, who is usually described as Peter the Great, married Eudokia Lopukhina, his first wife (Evdokia = Eudosis, Eudoxia, Eudocia, Eudosia, Eudokia; also Yevdokia; Lopuhin, Lopuhina, Lopukhine, Lopuchin, Lopuchina).

The names Eudoxia and Eudokia (Eudocia) should not be confused.
Eudokia is more popular since there are saints with that name.
Eudoxia is less popular since Eudoxia (died 404 AD), the wife if Roman emperor Arcadius, was engaged in a dispute with St. John Chrisostomatos.
