Audrey vs. Sophie
My husband and I are down to our two finalists for a girl due on December 10th.
Audrey vs. Sophie
Which do you prefer and why? Most importantly, what's your perception of each?

My brother was born on December 10th! He'll be 16 this year!
As for my opinion on the names, I really do like Audrey. But Marie is not a favorite name of mine simply because it is a bit overused sometimes. What about the name Audrey Claire? Two very pretty, not overly popular, solid names. The name Sophie reminds me of a snobby poodle or something, sorry! Good luck in the choosing!

What are the middle names you've chosen?
We've chosen
Sophie Claire
Audrey Marie
Sophie Claire
Audrey Marie
In that case, I vote for "Sophie Claire", because she has the prettier secret anagram name out of the two.
Sophie Claire = Hesperia Clio
Audrey Marie = Rudee Mariya

Well Audrey means "noble strength" and Sophie means "wisdom". Think of which trait your child would like to have more. "Noble strength" without "wisdom" can lead to self-destructive personalities. On the other hand, if you are wise and not strong, you may not be able to beat them; but you can always arrange to have someone else beat them for you (to paraphrase G. Carlin).
Hmm...
Well, Sophie and Sophia have been climbing the charts the past several years. My eight year old daughter knows one of each her age.
I do love the name, too, so you first must decide if you'll be all right with it being your child's name, if it becomes the next Sarah.
Audrey is also getting a little popular, although it's not in the Top 50 like Sophia. It seems to be more popular than Sophie even--although I haven't come across any Audrey's in my area--but if I hear of many Sophia's, I'm going to connect it with a lot of Sophie's nevertheless.
As for my personal taste, I like Sophie better than Audrey. However, I also love Aubrey (with a b).
Let us know what you wind up picking.

I think Sophie is more modern, young...Audrey sounds old and boring for some reason! There is my preference for you! Good luck!
I prefer Audrey. Sophie is a fine name. It doesn't seem to be as popular in America, at least where I live anyway. However, I'd go with Audrey because it just seems timeless and classic. Then again, I'm not really partial to Sophie in general. I like it much better as a nickname to Sophia. I think Audrey Claire would go nicely.
