LEMIRA
In the 1861 census for DEWSBURY, YORKS, ENG there is a LEMIRA CLEGG daughter of Abraham CLEGG. I know this is not a mispelling for two reasons. 1st her father was the enumerator for this area of Dewsbury. 2nd I have found her marriage many years later. I have never heard of this name or come across it elsewhere and would love the derivation. It is probably worth mentioning that this family used diverse first names including AKICE (male) AKED/OKED (presumably biblicle)not to mention CHADWICK which may or may not have been mothers surname (yet to ascertain),
Any help welcome

Lemira could be a form of Elmira? Or a feminization of Lemmy?Check: Chadwick.
