Quastania.......any thoughts?
Mike, I noticed your dearth of Q names. This one belongs to a young girl of native American background....

Sorry Mom, couldn't find a Nuu-Chah-Nulth/English dictionary online. Bet you could find one locally in print.

Guess what? maybe Precious.
Thanks for trying Mike. Guess what?...I found out from her big sister that she's named after a Nuu-Chah-Nulth Elder.....I'll let you know if I find out what it means...."Precious" is a possibility, but I'll confirm it. That'll boost your Q listings a little, eh?

I dunno about this name being Native American, but I was able to find out that it was once an old name for Castell'Umberto in Sicily:

Sorry I can't tell you what it means, but you may want to check into some Italian sources regarding the name.

Thanks, Nanaea for the Italian connection.......that could be the source if it's not related to her Nuu-Chah-Nulth background
Glad I could be of help. Keeping in mind that this name comes from Sicily, that means it could also be from few sources other than Italian -- such as Spanish, Greek, or Sephardic Jewish. Sicily has always been a sort of Mediterranean melting pot.
Good luck, Barb!
