There are some names in this book (by Alice Walker) that are really unusual and I was wondering if anyone had any info on them.
The characters are based on 'black women in rural South America' in the 30's (I think). I'm presuming they have African origins (?)
Rannie Mae Toomer (female, Mae is mn Toomer is sn)
Snooks (male, baby)
Daughter (female, ?!)
