Re: Ok. I have a project for you guys.
Nan, the name was given to her great-great grandfather. It was after a Native American boy who worked in the fields. She is currently trying to find out which tribe it was from for me. It might not have been spelled that way until it was given to her great-great grandfather. I am still working on some more info for you guys. I jsut thought it might help to have a bit of a head start. I am doing it for a Christmas gift to her.

I don't know anything about the name, but what a clever idea for a unique Christmas gift!

Tracie, when you talk to your friend again, ask her in which U.S. state (or territory) her great-great-grandfather was born. Ask her what her ancestor's surname was. Ask her the year in which she thinks her ancestor was born and when he died. A search of U.S. census records may turn up a clue as to the origin of his name. :)-- Nanaea
