...I think you must be hyper-sensitive and looking for things to be offended about in order to have an issue with the name Dixie. Just because there was slavery in the South doesn't mean that everything associated with the South is racist. Some people are too lazy to see the difference. If you did choose the name Dixie for your child I guess you would do so with the knowledge that a lot of knee-jerk types are going to take umbrage with the name.
