I suppose as a Hebrew name, SHULA is a short form of SHULAMIT. This is a biblical name and can be translated as "peaceful". But the original meaning is something different: Hebrew “shallem” means “pay for, replace, complete” and names like Salomon or Salome were originally given to a child, whose elder brother or sister had died (which happened quite often).
