"day's eye" is the root of the word/name Daisy . The use of the name Daisy is a reference to the flower so there is no other meaning.

Daisy: Best danged dog I ever had! Golden and Lab mix, died much too soon (age 11) in 1999. Mrs. Cranky wanted to name her Gretel, Gawd knows why. I miss that sweet old bitch (Daisy, not the still-kickin Mrs. C).
