Annette/Marlys

I think it just depends how important it is to you to honor them both with names.. if it's not so important that you are determined to do so, then it's not important. You might have only one daughter. I guess I'd ask myself, what would I rather my own name was like (or, guessing what I'd want, based on the best I could imagine what it would be like to be the child).
In some families I'd guess it means tons to have ancestor names, and fashionable or pretty names might seem indulgent and superficial. In others, it means not so much -- like in my own family, a middle name from the family would have been really wonderful and special, but a first and middle name could have been a 'bit much' .. since my family's just another middle class white family, not one of big achievers, close family ties, or great importance in society - and the name would have been dated and not 'fit in' so well with my peers. So what I am trying to say here is, I think it just depends what feels natural and special to you.
Marlys fits in pretty well though, I think, with current fashions, without seeming trendy at all.. for whatever that's worth.
I pronounce Annette "uh-NET".
Personally I'd pick Annika Marlys and say Annika honors Annette, since both are diminutives of Anne. YMMV.

I pronounce it Anne-net because that is how my Aunty pronounces her name.
The question I have for you is do you like both names together? Would you prefer to use them as middle names with your own choice first?

I am not sure...(combos add)
I really am not sure...I really havent been too into honoring people for long. And these are the only female in my life that I see myself ever honoring, unlike males (who I have two great uncles, my grandfather, great grandfather, 2 friends, and my SO has a lot of friends with the name Nicholas)...thats a lot compared.
Not that it matters, but I like more and more girl names, but thats also a recent thing, I used to hate ALL girl names. I am not sure if I want honor them both in one combo or seperate. So maybe I just want a list of combos I can refer to and see what my SO likes and maybe ask them what they think...
My great grandmothers are Rosalia (which is how I get my overly used mn Rose) and Emily. I am not a fan of either, but what if I use my favorite Em name and grandmothers mn...
Emmerson Annette
other combos I have:
Annika Marlys (moms first name)
Aspen Marlys
Callista Joanne (Joan and Annette, mn names) nn Callie
I am not sure what I want to do...
