Jessica
What do you think of the name Jessica? I know it was once insanely popular, at one time I had 7 Jessica's in one class so I am aware but it isn't popular anymore and each year it goes down in popularity more. So who knows by the time I actually have children it would probably be out of the top 50 so I'm not concerned about that.I used to really love this name, and never stopped at least liking it and I think I'm liking it more and more again. The only problem is that it doesn't fit all that well with the most of the other names I love, particularly the girls names I love. It doesn't horribly stand out but doesn't sound great either. Can you think of any girls names that would fit well in a sib set with Jessica? I don't like uber-trendy or kre8iv names, if that helps.TIA,Jamie

I've always liked it too. It's gorgeous. It's been so popular for so long, I doubt it's going anywhere fast.. it'll probably decline slowly. I think you needn't worry about it being dated, since it's been popular for almost 40 years.Jessica and:Ryan

It's a very pretty name. I've always liked it. Yeah, I know a million Jessicas..but that wouldn't stop me from using it. It almost seems classic now..I'd use it with other classic names like Alexandra, Katherine, perhaps Megan (another overly popular name, but I love it)

I love this name-even if it was once trendy and overly popular. It's beautiful.

Oh no! ...Its not the worst name in the world, just too common & tied with a certain era (babies of the 1980s ... my generation)& so I'm very harsh in my opinion of it & Ashley, Nicole, Heather, Jennifer, etc. Everytime I hear people say its getting less common I cringe because everyday at work or school I hear of a new one (Jessica Ann Scott & Ashley Marie Scott are twins I know!!)... I forgive those who used it before they realized how common it was going to get, but those who use it now ... anywhooo, use it if you must just don't try & ignore its current popularity.

I don't doubt it's still being used. I think it's in California that it's still in the top 5. But overall it is going down in popularity a little each year.

My sister's name.I do find the name beautiful, and it does have a history. I'm fairly sure it was used by Shakespeare. However, it has been so over-used its completely tied to the '80s! Otherwise, I'd pick classic names to go with it:Jessica
Cassandra
Alexandra

Thanks. I really like the suggestion of Charlotte, somehow it kind of fits with Jessica and plus I do love the name.I think because it is soo tied to that decade is why I find it a bit "off" with all the classic names I love like: Claire, Julia, Elise, Annabel, Amelia, etc... Even though Jessica itself is on the classic side, maybe not classic in the sense of Elizabeth or Katherine but still classic.

Yeah, if I remember well Jessica is Shylock's daughter.

I really don't like, sorry. Apart from the "too popular" thing, I find it too 80's and, I dunno... I don't find it very beautiful.
