German, according to this website has nothing to do with the country, but means brother. Paris was never related to the city Paris until only recently. I dislike the name German, but it's been a name for quite a while. I'm sure if people go way back on their family tree you'll find someone on there with such a name.

A little girl with a name meaning "brother" makes German seem even MORE inappropriate for a girl now.

I do not like it however ONLY because of the country. Otherwise, I think it'd be cute for a boy
If it wasnt a country, I personally wouldnt mind it too much. The germ- thing someone pointed out doesnt bother me because in the pn I use Ger-man, and the germ sound doesnt come across. Also, "germ" doesnt stick out for me when I see German.
