I've been doing a little research on the name Emery. I've always liked it, but was put off by its surname status (I dislike surnames as first names, with only a couple of exceptions).
So I was happy to learn it was originally a first name - a medieval one, the English form of Emerica / Emericus, the Latin form of Emeric. Both male and female.
