Re: Top 50 Western Australian girls names for 2006

Interesting! I had no idea some of these - Tahlia, Skye, Indiana, Charlize, Bianca, Eliza, Monique - were so popular down under. I wonder if Charlize was used before the rise of Charlize Theron, or if it's a symptom of her fame?
Several of the popular names - Makayla spelt this way, Brianna, Dakota and Savannah, I thought were purely American territory, possibly Canadian too. There are also many shared favourites with Britain, like Sophie and Holly, so it's an interesting mix.
I always think of Australia as having a strong tradition of Scottish names, but the girls' list doesn't reflect that. The boys' list does, with Lachlan, Liam, Connor, Declan, Aiden and Callum all popular. Lachlan is much more popular with the Aussies than it is with us! Thanks for sharing :-)
