Chance
Wdyt of Chance as a fn for a boy? This isn't my usual style, but it's really been on my mind the last couple of days. I don't like it as a nn for anything: just Chance. Does it sound too much like a dog's name?Like it? Dislike it? Any combo ideas? Thanks :)

I knew a boy named Chance in elementary school. I have no trouble seeing it as a boy's fn. I think it's kinda cute. =)

Chance is a great name with an excellent reference, the movie Being There?

I like Chance but only for a girl. It doesn't sound masculine to me at all.

it's not particularly my style, but it's not a bad-sounding name. I would like it on someone else's kid I am sure. I only have good associations with the name (it's the name of one of my best friends' boyfriends and he's a super-nice guy.) so I don't see a problem with it.

Sorry, for me that name is like saying I named you chance because I am taking a chance with you or something. My apologies but I don't care for it much. How about Chandeler or Chancelor or something.

I don't care for it. It always makes me think that they parents were surprised by the child, as if the child happened just by chance.

Chance sorta reminds of a dog, but I still like it.

Homeward BoundI think of the dog in Homeward Bound. Its certainly a dogs name to me. Not to mention its a word name, which I also cant stand. Its one of those words I dont understand why people would want to name their child that, much like Charity.

That's what I think of, too.I like the name Charity though!

I understand what you mean about the word names.
At least Charity is a virtue. I mean it's a word with a positive meaning.
Chance is just ... chance. Why not name your kid Fate? Or Odds? Or Probability?

CharityI dont know about the whole positive meaning - to me all I can think of is a donation to the poor, as if the child is/was charity. Maybe people think of a giving person, I think of the parents saying the child is nothing more than charity.

Yes, I see what you mean. I had thought only of a giving person.

Strangely I do like it, however, it also reminds me of a dogs name just because of a movie called Homeward Bound had a dog named Chance in it. So its not a name I would personally use. But I don't dislike it at the same time :) Hopefully I wasn't being confusing lol.

Lol, I know what you mean. That's the dog I associate with the name too, which is why I'm not sure if I should use it... I'm not even a dog person =PThanks for responding!
