Starla
I noticed someone has Starla as a screen name. WDTY? Is it useable as a fn?
I kind of like it, but am not sure if it's just a GP name.
Even DH is considering.

I don't like it, sounds kind of weird. But it is useable I would say.
I had a student who graduated last year named Starla, so it definitely has been used for real live people, not just as a screen name.
I actually know a girl who has the name Starla. Her sister is my sister's best friend. Her name is Mystica. Hippie parents. LOL
Anyway, the name fits her and she is very pretty and smart.

I like it, but it's not one of my faves. I don't think I'd ever use it because there's too many other girl names I like better. Starla makes me think of someone fun, pretty, outgoing, confident - doesn't care what people think.

sorry lol my name got messed up (Sabrina Fair)
I like the "Star" part quite a lot. Personally it sounds made up to me. I just prefer Star.

Starla is a Smashing Pumpkins song. It's kinda a sentimental favorite of mine for that.
that'd be me!
And it is my real first name. I guess that makes it usable. :) Although, I've noticed a lot of people seem to consider it a trashy, stripper, or redneck name, or maybe that's just paired with my middle name of Roxanne.

Who else would you be? It just wouldn't be right if you weren't.
My friend has a little sister with this name, but we live in Sweden.
I think this name sounds best on English..in swedish is prn STAAAR-lah

Its ok to me. My Aunts name was Starlyn, so I like that better! -KJ
I think it's useable but I don't really care for it. It doesn't strike me as a strong, intellegent name for some reason. It seems a little like a stage name or a little girl's pageant name.
I think its useable - its not anymore out there than most names. A lot of people like word names, and I've seen Star being used (or at least mentioned as names they would like to use). There is a name-like quality about it - the -la ending since there are some girl names with this ending, that I seem to think its better than using plain Star.
Overall, yes, its usable, and I wouldnt be shocked to see it catch on. And much to my surprise actually, its in the BTN database (Starla). However, I do feel like I've heard this before, not just on the boards. I'm wondering if there is a character or something with this name or something close to it.
Overall, I think its cute, and could turn out to like it. However, its not one my boyfriend would probably agree to. And there is still that word connection I make which makes me second guess the liking of it.

I find it unattractive. Even Star (which I really dislike) would be better; Starla sounds like an unfortunate elaboration, like the mother wants her daughter to be a celebrity but has no idea how to make it happen.
I do like Stardust and Stargazer very much, though.
