I adore Eliana. I think Ella could work as a nick but then again, Ella isn't really distinctive these days while Eliana is. I think I'd be tempted to keep the name intact. Re: mns, I haven't really considered any for Eliana because I know I can never use it (my name is Elena and my dd is Anna). I do think a short mn (no more than two syllables) would work well. Eliana Raquel/Rachel immediately springs to mind -- don't know why. I hope this helps.
