I like the name, or NN in your case, Mara, but I prefer it prn MAHR-uh.

I usually hear it prn. as TAM-ah-rah, and occasionally tah-MARE-ah or tah-MAR-ah. And almost always, esp. with the first pronunciation, the nn is Tammy (ugh). I'd much rather see it with the nn Mara, though Tamara--no matter how it's prn.--is still nms.

Mara is a nice nn for Tamara, I like it better than Tamara on it's own.

Every Tamara I've kown (about three, and they all went by Tammy) pronounced it Ta-mar-uh, so that it sounded a little like tomorrow. I always thought it would be funny to meet a Tamara Knight.

tuh-MAHR-ah. I love the nickname Tam, but I think Mara sounds a bit contrived.

I pronounce it Ta-MAH-ra or Ta-MAR-a (knew someone with that pr.) depending on my mood. I love Tamara with the nn Mara. I've considered it myself. My dh thinks it sounds too much like 'tomorrow.'

I pronounce it almost like Tam-ruh, but with a slight pause on the M. So I guess it could be described as TAM-err-uh.

I only know one girl named Tamara, and I, and everyone who knows her, pronouces it as Ta-Ma-Ra. I would probably use nn Tara. But my friend's was Tammi
