Duncan
Do you like the name Duncan?
Replies
I've decided that I do. Before I found the sound unpleasant but now I've grown to appreciate it. And plus the Highlander association isn't a bad one.
It's my son's middle name-an old Scottish family name that goes way back. So I like it quite a bit!
I don't dislike it but it reminds me of Dunkin' Donuts. I prefer similar sounding Declan.
I really like it. It's an awesome name.
I love this name. I grew up having an "Uncle Duncan" (his name was Edward Duncan, but he went by his mn) and always thought it sounded hokey. But after Highlander, and meeting a little boy with this name, and realizing its Irish/Scottish roots, I've grown to love it. But I know a guy who had a brother with this name, and said he was constantly called "Dunkin' Donuts." Kids. lol
Please post under only one name. Thank you.
:)
:)
Whatever. Guess it's ok for you Reyanna/MPD Police. Double standards? And who has MPD, you?
The MPD Police (Reyanna or Miranda depending on who spots the rule-breaking) are both friendly with Mike C, the site creator, and he has never asked them to cease their attempts to maintain his rules. Many people break the rule because they are not aware of it - Mike has had limited success with putting rules on the boards as people tend to overlook or ignore them. Others break the rules deliberately, with the intent of deceiving others, and it is for this reason that the MPD police are a necessary part of life at BtN.
If you posted under more than one name, accept the correction and obey the one-person-one-name rule in the future. Thanks

Gosh, thanks! And to Isla....
Everybody knows I'm also 'MPD police' (either me or Miranda) so it's okay. See... I let people know ahead of time. Plus... I'm not trying to deceive people or anything. I'm just trying to keep the board friendly and honest. :) No harm done.

I must've misplaced my ESP
To the Multiple Personality Disorder people:
There are no rules listed on this list. You may think "everyone" knows these things, but they apparently do not. Sorry, but I'm not a mind-reader.

I dealt with that already in my post
?
I sort of do, but it's not on my list. I don't think the "Dunk" sound is very appealing, but I like that it's classic and not trendy.
Yes, and the nn Dunc. In Jr. High, there was a Duncan, and all the girls loved his name.
Yeah, I like it.. I wouldn't use it myself, but it's cool on other people's kids. I wouldn't worry about Dunkin' Donuts. Whatever.
I first heard Duncan on a boy in junior high, who was from England, and was a real jerk, but annoyingly attractive. So I think of him.

I just realized...
...that Duncan is a forgotten fave of mine. From way back.
I had it saved on my old museum ready computer, before it crashed down. So my lists was gone from the hard drive, and I had to restore them from memory along the way.
So I really love it. And I'll hurry to add it to my new list. (Saved on floppy disk now to avoide any lists dissapears.)

No. I find the sound very unattractive, and I do hear "dunkin donuts" as well.
I wouldn't necessarily use it myself, but I definitely think it's nice. (Then again, I generally love all names that end with -an. There are only one or two major excpeptions.)
No, not really my style, sorry.
