But I'd pronunce the good old fashioned American way--so that it sounded exactly like the word "clawed"--since that's how my...great-great-uncle, I think? Well, that's how he would've pronunced his name had I known him.I'm a student of the French language, though, and I wouldn't describe the French pronunciation as sounding like "cloud" (assuming I'm understanding your pronunciation, which is written a bit ambiguously) though. More like something in between "clohd" (oh as in "soap") and "cluhd."ArrayETA: Forgot a few necessary words.
