I love the name Jessica. It's still a popular name here in Australia. It seems to be one of those names that's in steady use. It's nice though. I like the nn Jessie, it's cute, but I do prefer the nn Jess.

I prefer Jessa ;)

I've always really liked Jessica. It was a top contender for our daughter's name. It's very popular, but not as much as Emma or Sarah.
I don't mind the nn Jessie, as long as it is spelled that way it doesn't seem masculine.

I've never liked the 'sica' part of Jessica or its popularity, however, I do like the softness of Jessie. I don't find it too masculine at all. I would only use Jessie as a nn. WDYT of Jessenia or Jessamine?

I agree with Haven, I thought Jessica had had its time in the limelight, it feels very 80's to me.
Not a bad name though, it just got very, very overused, so maybe one could consider some other name?

I think Jessica is a great name. It's timeless and not at all popular nowadays. Many people have stopped naming their child Jessica for fear it was too popular. Popularity should have no bearing on a name, anyway.Lissa

The name is dropping in popularity, but it's still common. My name is Jessica, and I've never liked being called Jessie (I don't mind being called Jess though). While I was growing up, I had to share my name with at least one classmate during the majority of my school years, which bothered me. Not only was it confusing, but I just felt like my name was really boring. I still wish that I had been given a less common name.

I like Jessica even though it was really popular a while ago. I love Jessie though, and no it's not too masculine.

I worked with three Jessica's at the same time, so I'm afraid that it's a little popular right now. If that's your thing, great! It's not a name that she is going to hate later on. The three girls I worked with went by "Jessica" , "Jessie" and "Jess" to distinguish them from each other. My favorite is "Jess", but "Jessie" (spelled that way) is not too masculine. Hope that helped. Just my opinions.

I quite dislike it. Jessie doesn't sound/look that masculine; Jesse does.

I'm sorry. This is the reason that I advoid using popular names, because they quickly become dated. Jessica is very dated for me - as is Erika, Jessica, Jocelyn, and Jennifer. Emma, Emily and Charlotte will follow quickly.
