What do you think of the name Thandiwe, and is it pronounced TAHN-dee-way or THAN-dee-weh?

I thought it was pronounced Tan-dee. Is the "H"silent.

This is my friend Michael's mum's name. She is a gorgeous woman who escaped South Africa during Apartheid and I admire her so so much. I love the name, probably because I think of her when I hear it.
