I'm curious about what people picture when they hear the name, especially from what Mirfak said.
For me, I picture a strong man, old, weather-beaten. A sea-captain. Wise. That's the reason I love the name so much - it's a name that to me has been tested throughout the generations. Whenever I read about a Jonas, it is a strong character - as opposed to other names.
However: What are others impressions of it? I won't be swayed, but I'm curious.
"Finally: Am I the only person who
likes names that remind her of past generations, and the elderly? Miriam, Helen, Ezra, Judith - all bring to mind strong people, all old, but strong and wise. I picture age with wisdom and experience, something to respect. It seems as if others see age and run for the hills.
