Helpwhat's wrong with this twinset?
A couple of days ago i put up a poll, asking what people thought of the twinset "Raven and Kestrel". The general answer was they wouldn't have gone near it if their own lives depended on it (that was one of the options). What is wrong with it?
In case anyone is wondering, Kestrel is the elder.

Okay, i seem to have found the general problem, so i will tell the backstory (they **are** for characters). Raven and Kestrel are descendants of phoenixes. They both have the ability to turn into their respective name's bird. (Raven for Raven, Kestrel for Kestrel).

The kids are humans, not birds.
THEY ARE BIRD NAMES, NOT HUMAN NAMES! I really don't like naming children after animals, especially not after the species. My sister is standing over my shoulder and says that if they're naming their children Kestrel and Raven, then she will name her children Pygmy Marmoset and Orangutan. Just figured I'd throw that in.
I definitely would not come close to these names with a ten-foot pitchfork.

Actually, they're half phoenix.
they were also born with huge wings. (yes, this is for a story)

I don't have a problem with the names individually (though neither one is a favorite) but together they are too themey and cutesy because they are both types of birds.

First of all, a poll doesn't truly express feelings. Respondants had a limited set of options to pick. Maybe they don't truly loathe the names/set with the passion your given answer implies, but they would have rathered select that one than pick a more median answer that implied consent of the set.
Therefore, your defensive tone is unwarranted. Don't come in here asking what's wrong with the set and citing the wording of the answer as justification when YOU are the one who supplied said wording.
That being said, personally, I wouldn't go near that set, and that's my wording. I dislike the name Raven immensely. Unless you're a 13 year old girl who reads too much Poe and wants to rebel, there's no reason for that to be a name. Kestrel has an unpleasant sound, and before I checked, I would have taken it for a male. The only good thing this set has going for it is that to most people, the theme isn't obvious. That's a marginally saving grace, though, as I don't like twin themes anyway.

Its just too much, it sounds like your bringing up a family of birds not children...and the teasing opertunities are just too many. I can just about handle the name Raven..but Kestrel...and with Raven..no its far too much.

I personally dont like many nature names, though these names seperately arent too bad they are just far too Twinsey Themey for me

They're ridiculously twinny and neither is a particularly attractive word name. I didn't vote in the poll but I would have chosen the "wouldn't go near it" option if I had.
