Alaine is French meaning dear child and Irish meaning beautiful. I love it because it DOESN'T make me think of Elaine on Seinfeld or Lady Elaine on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. It has a softer sound.

I was never really a big fan of the name Elaine.
I do really like Alaine though. I have a cousin named Taylor Alayne.
