I think Sinclair sounds like a posh British name. Even though I am also reminded of the American author Sinclair Lewis. Therefore I prefer it for a boy, even though the meaning is "Saint Claire". It reminds me of the name St John (Sinjohn).

I like Sinclair better for a boy, it's very nice. However, I'm not opposed to Sinclaire on a girl. I once saw a girl by this name on tv.
